Seattle-Tacoma International Airport - Seattle-Tacoma International Airport

Seattle-Tacoma Airport

The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, short SeaTac, located 20 minutes south of downtown Seattle by car. The cities Seattle and Tacoma share this airport; politically, SeaTac does not belong to Seattle, but to the King County.

background

getting there

There are several ways to get from the airport to the city center:

By train

With the Link light Rail [1] it goes to the city center within approx. 40 minutes at most every 15 minutes. The ride costs approximately $ 3.25. The stop is well marked at the airport.

By bus

  • Shuttle bus - costs around $ 5 - $ 12.75
  • metro (City bus). With the lines 194 (express, 30 minutes) and 174 (45 - 60 minutes) you can get to the center for $ 2.00. Make sure that you have the right change (e.g. by buying a small coffee Chinook Coffee shop at baggage claim). At the exit of the terminal go right and straight on to the south end, where the metro bus stops are.

With the taxi

  • Taxis wait on the 3rd floor of the parking garage. The journey takes about 20 minutes and costs $ 25- $ 35.

In the street

  • rental car. Especially on weekends it is worth looking for rental cars on the internet, because they are available for as little as $ 12 per day (plus approx. 18% tax). Please note the parking fees in the hotel and the "airport tax" (11%) if you rent your car directly at the airport. This does not apply to rental cars from the city, and you save a lot of money.

Airlines and Destinations

The airport connects the whole world with Seattle, and the transpacific connections are particularly good. Alaska Airlines offers cheap flights out of the Bay Area and from southCalifornia at.

Lufthansa and Condor fly from Germany directly to Seattle.

shop

The usual shops and boutiques can be found in the airport. For serious shopping, it is best to go to one of the neighboring districts, such as Burien (in the northwest) or the Southcenter (in the east); e.g. Westfield Southcenter Mall

  • The nearest supermarket (Safeway) is at 4011 South 164th St, Seattle, 7 minutes by car northeast of the airport terminal.

kitchen

In the airport terminal

  • Anthony’s. Ranked as the best restaurant in the entire airport district by Tripadvisor. American cuisine.

In the neighborhood

  • Bai Tong Restaurant, 15859 International Blvd.. Highly rated restaurant with Thai cuisine.
  • Galliano's Cucina, 16435 Military Rd. S. Italian restaurant with good value for money.
  • Mango Thai Cusine & Bar, 18613 International Blvd.. Considered the best restaurant near the airport.

accommodation

Dozens of hotels are located on the eastern edge of Seattle-Tacoma Airport. Because the planes do not fly directly overhead and the walls and windows of American airport hotels are typically very well soundproofed, it is usually not even particularly loud here.

All airport hotels offer a free shuttle service to the airport around the clock. The prices quoted are net prices for a room with 2 queen or double / full-size beds (for up to 4 people). Solo travelers and couples who get by with fewer beds usually live a little cheaper.

The airport is a 20-minute drive south of downtown. For travelers arriving by car or renting a car in Seattle, it may be worthwhile to stay here for the duration of your stay. Unlike hotels in downtown, the airport hotels all have a parking lot that guests can use free of charge.

Inexpensive

In the cheap segment there are some really gritty hotels at the airport where you only want to stay in dire straits. These include some of the independents (Sea Tac Crest Motor Inn, Sandstone Inn, Sutton Suites & Extended Stay), but also e.g. the Econo Lodge. A research at Tripadvisor can prevent the worst.

  • Motel 6 Seattle Airport # 1332, 16500 Pacific Highway South. Decent chain motel with good value for money. Fans of this chain will also find two other branches at Sea Tac Airport (Seattle Sea Tac Airport South # 4690 and Seattle South # 736).Price: From $ 72.
