Selzach is a Swiss Municipality in the canton Solothurn. The rarely used French-language name is Saucy.

background

The municipality belongs to the Lebern district and is located between Solothurn and Grenchen. The municipality extends from the Aare to the first main ridge of the Jura, where the Hasenmatt (1,445 m above sea level) is the highest point in the municipality.

In addition to the village of Selzach, the districts also belong to the community Altreu, Haag, Moos, Bäriswil and Chänelmoos.

Due to numerous finds, it can be concluded that the area was already inhabited by Celts and Romans. The place was first used as a Selsacho mentioned in 1181.
