What see
- Forte de Santiago. Located on the beach of Sesimbra, the fort was built between 1640 and 1656 on the site of another one dating back to the previous century and destroyed by English corsairs. In 1977 it was declared a national monument and open to the public. It is also known as "Forte da Marinha" or "Forte da Praia2
- Forte de São Teodósio from Ponta do Cavalo. Built in 1648 to guard the pirates who infested the coasts of Portugal, it is not open to the public.
- Castelo de Sesimbra.
Free admission. 
Open from 07:00 to 19:00. Built in medieval times on a promontory, the castle of Sesimbra houses the "Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Castelo" from the 12th century but restored in the 18th. Musical events and temporary exhibitions take place there.
