mobility

There is a well-developed public transport network in the city; in the center itself, most of it can be reached on foot, for example from the panorama to the promenade over the historic boulevard and the Balschaya Morskaya walk (approx. 20 minutes, only recommended in this direction, as it is downhill). Longer distances can be reached with the buses for about 1.5 UAH at the moment. Or you can take the micro-buses, which are sprinters with approx. 8-12 seats, approx. 2 UAH. However, you have to know exactly where you want to go in the microbuses and call the name of the stop in front of the corresponding stop. Recommended only for people with a good knowledge of Russian and for people who know their way around. There are more than a dozen lines ... Sevastopol Municipal Public Transport has 337 bus routes, 15 express bus routes, 19 trolleybus routes, 52 minibus routes and 2 ferry routes.

The easiest way is usually to take a taxi, you can find taxis on every corner. There are official and less official taxis, the difference is in the price. While official taxis drive with meters (approx. 2, - UAH / km), unofficial drivers negotiate the price beforehand. This is then usually almost twice as high as with the counter.

In the meantime there are a few restaurants, but real Ukrainian cuisine is hardly offered at all. Mostly they are Georgian restaurants with typical Georgian food (sheep, shashlik). But overall there weren't many really good restaurants, mostly not very clean.

Ships of the Black Sea Fleet

Traditionally, shipyards and fishing are the strongest industries. The fishing branch has, however, been greatly reduced due to the high pollution of the waters by chemicals from agriculture and industry. The most important employer in the urban region is still the Russian Navy with its Black Sea fleet and finances an additional 25% of the city's budget. Until March 2014, Russia was paying a whopping 97.75 million USD annually to Ukraine just for the lease of the military port for the Black Sea Fleet.
