Sigulda is a city in Latvia

The city is located in the as Latvian Switzerland well-known region and is one of the most scenic travel destinations in the country. The castles and castle ruins that still exist today in and around Sigulda testify that in the Middle Ages the place was a border town of the states of the Bishop of Riga and the Teutonic Order, who fortified their borders with these castles.

Sigulda is located about 50 kilometers northeast of Riga.

Sigulda has a train station on the Riga - Valga railway line in Estonia and is served several times a day.
By bus
There is currently no direct bus connection from Germany (as of 2017), but there are long-distance bus connections to Riga. Some travel companies offer multi-day trips to the Baltic States, which usually include a one-day stop in Sigulda.

You can take the ship from several times a week Lübeck/Travemünde to Liepāja With Stena Line drive. The journey time is approx. 28 hours.

The place is particularly popular because of its location in the extremely attractive region of the so-called Latvian Switzerland. The castles, some of which have been preserved, or the ruins of the Brotherhood of the Sword are worth seeing. Sigulda is the starting point for hikes through the approximately 920 km² Gauja National Park.
