By boat

  • A Danube ferry (car, bicycle, people) connects the Romanian town of Chiciu (approx. 10 km south of Călǎrași) with the right bank of the Danube. From the pier it is about 500 m to the border crossing, which is located directly at the eastern end of the city center of Silistra.
  • Another Danube ferry (car, bicycle, people) runs irregularly (sometimes stopped, sometimes not) from a landing stage about 10 km west of Silistra to the Romanian side of the river near Chiciu.
