Facts about Skurup

Skurup is a typical station community just southeast of Malmö that grew up on the railway between Malmö and Ystad during the childhood of industrialism. Skurup has a beautiful center consisting of old houses. Nils Holgersson in Selma Lagerlöf's famous story came from Västra Vemmingshög near Skurup. At Svaneholm Castle lived Rutger Macklean who drove through the revolutionary single shift in agriculture.

Skurup is located by the E65, south of Skurup is Skivarp which is located by road 101, the southernmost part of the municipality along the coast is road 9 past the fishing village Abbekås.

Many of the urban residents commute to Malmö, Lund and Copenhagen. There is also a folk high school in the town.
