Strážnice (German: Straßnitz) is a city in the Moravian Slovakia on the left bank of the March just a few kilometers north of the Slovakian border. Strážnice is home to the Southeast Moravian Village and Open-Air Museum, one of the largest skansen in Central Europe.

The station is right in the city center off the main line Břeclav - Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště. Express trains Vienna / Bratislava - Ostrava - Warsaw do not stop in Strážnice; you have to be in Hodonín change. The local railway line Skalica has no more passenger traffic.

Tourist Attractions

  • Strážnice Castle
  • Strážnice open-air museum. The Village Museum of Southeast Moravia, one of the largest skansen in Central Europe, also shows the wine-growing tradition of South Moravia.
  • Church of the Virgin Mary
  • City gates. Remains of the fortifications from the Turkish Wars from the second half of the 16th century.
  • Synagogue and Jewish cemetery. With the oldest grave from 1448 (Moses Sofer, Rabbi of Strážnice).
