Stubai Valley - Stubaital

The Stubai Valley is an alpine valley and is located in the Austrian state Tyrol. It is the central valley of the Stubai Alps part of the Eastern Alps.

The approximately 30 km long valley, which is one of the most beautiful high mountain valleys in Tyrol, runs from Schoenberg southwest. To Fulpmes the settlements are on both sides on terraces above the gorge of the Ruetz, at Fulpmes the terraces unite to the valley floor. South from Neustift, the main town of the valley, the valley branches into the Pinnis, Unterberg and Oberberg valleys. The Stubai Glacier ski area is located at the end of the Unterbergtal valley.

Massive limestone massifs rise at the entrance to the valley. In the back valley the gneiss and granite peaks with 109 three-thousanders rise up to the eternal ice. Many glaciers form the largest year-round ski area in Austria over an area of 15 square kilometers. In summer, the main and side valleys offer a variety of hiking and excursion options.
