The night markets in Taichung are considered to be the most innovative and largest in the country. Many a snack was invented in Taichung. Bubble tea, which is said to come from Taichung, is famous worldwide. The Fengjia Night Market is Taiwan's largest night market and extends over several streets around Fengjia University. There are delicacies as far as you can see here. The small stands are often very well attended and you often have to wait a long time (you often get a number, which is then called). If you want to relax for a while, turn into the streets, which are only occupied by food stands on one side, and stroll through the multitude of small boutiques.

If you like Vietnamese or Thai cuisine, you should go near the train station. There are tons of small restaurants with the authentic cuisine from these countries. If you still need ingredients, you can find them in the Asian shops just around the corner.

A specialty of Taichung is a lemon bisquit, which looks a bit dry for German palates.

tip

Dawncake
Not an eye clinic, but a shop

If you are looking for something special, you should Dawncake in the No. Visit 20 Zhongshan Road near the train station.

In the building of an old eye clinic, a businessman showed how a ruin can be turned into a tourist magnet. The shop is built like an old library and you have to look carefully to see the absolutely high-quality pineapple cake in the wonderful packaging. Whether as a book, an old map or a CD box, the imagination seems to have no limits when it comes to packaging. Most young Taiwanese tourists cannot afford the many delicacies; A picture with the object of desire and a stamp on one of the postcards, which are available free of charge as in all tourist centers, are often sufficient for them. If you have the time, you should pay the shop a visit and you will definitely not come out empty-handed.
