Tapes[1] is a municipality of Rio Grande do Sul.

The city is part of the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, is bathed by the Laguna dos Patos and has about 18,000 inhabitants.

Total area: Approximately 652 km². The city is located a few meters above sea level, being formed by a sandy plain and small elevations in some points. It is basically divided into two distinct regions: coastal plains of Lagoa dos Patos and elevated. Campos and Matas are the main types of vegetation that predominate in the municipality. Lands with low undergrowth and almost no trees became suitable for raising animals (cattle, sheep, horses, etc.). In agriculture, rice irrigated by flooding predominates.
