Tata, (Ger. Totis, lat. Dotis) is a city in Hungary.

The city is about 10 km north of Tatabánya away. The history of the place begins as early as the 11th century, in 1387 Tata received city rights from King Sigismund. In some documents Tata is mentioned as early as 1225, among others. 1221 also as tota. Especially during the times of the Ottoman conquests, the city's castle was an important part of the system of fortifications against the Ottomans.

The city is now part of the Tata small area.

By train

The railway line between Budapest and Vienna leads through Tata; However, international express trains (e.g. Railjet) do not stop here. You can go Budapest Déli pu. or. Gyõr travel on regional trains. The train station is located about 2 km northeast of the city center in the Tóváros district
