THE Northwest Territories they are divided into five regions, which roughly correspond to the territories of the native inhabitants:
- South Slave (south of Great Slave Lake) - The main hub is Fort Smith.
- North Slave (north of Great Slave Lake) - Here is the capital, Yellowknife.
- Deh Cho - The main centers here are Hay River and Fort Simpson.
- Sahtu - The main center is Norman Wells.
- Beaufort Delta / Arctic Coast - May be further divided into the settlements of Gwich'in and Inuvialuit. The main center is Inuvik.
