Teruel is the capital of the province of the same name, it has around 35,000 inhabitants and is located in the autonomous region Aragon. The rivers come together in Teruel Alfambra and Guadalaviar to the Turiawhich flows into the Mediterranean Sea after around 200 km near Valencia.

The area around Teruel was already settled by the Iberians, after whom the Romans took over. The Moors ruled here in the 8th century. After their expulsion in the 12th century, Teruel was Christianized. In 1347 Teruel received city rights.

Tourist Attractions
After the areas ruled by the Moors were recaptured by the Spaniards, there were still a number of Muslims among their inhabitants. The Mudejar art they created mixes elements of Islamic architecture with those of European art.
