Suganuma Village
- 1 Gokayama (五 箇 山) (in the heart of the mountains near the edge of Gifu prefecture) – World heritage site famous for its houses gasshō-zukuri with well preserved thatched roofs.
- 2 Himi (氷 見) – A secluded seaside fishing village with an excellent fish market.
- 3 Kurobe Gorge (黒 部 峡谷, kurobe-kyōkoku) – Notable for its train leading halfway to the gorge, but also for its great hikes and hot springs. Access from Unazuki Onsen station (southeast of Kurobe).
- Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Road (access from Tateyama station (near Toyama) or that of Shinano-Ōmachi near Matsumoto) – This road connecting Nagano and Toyama by a series of different means of transport (funicular, bus, trolleybus, aerial tram and walking) was built to provide access to the Kurobe dam.

By train
The prefecture is connected to Tokyo (2 h) and to Kanazawa (30 min) by the Shinkansen Hokuriku line. There are stations at Toyama, Takaoka and Unazuki Onsen.
