Triumph[1] is a historic city in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, at the Brazil.It was founded in 1754, being one of the oldest settlements in the state, being strongly associated with the Farroupilha Revolution. It still preserves several old buildings. Today its economy is based on a large petrochemical park.

Access to Triunfo is by road. According to the City Hall, there are two main entrances: one via BR 386, accessing the interchange viaduct at km 418 Montenegro/Petrochemical Pole, following another 4km along RS 124, turning right onto TF 10, driving another 35km until reaching the city centre. Another access can be made by BR 290, entering the access to charqueadas by RS 401, traveling 55km to St. Jerome and making the ferry crossing. Triunfo is 48km from the state capital, Porto Alegre.

The city has an important historic center, with one of the largest sets of Portuguese colonial-style buildings in the state. Among the main attractions of this collection are:

  • , General Bento Gonçalves Square, 51 3654-1299. 8am-6pm. Built in 1754 as the seat of the third oldest parish in the state. Its style is typical of colonial baroque, although it underwent some later changes. Its interior displays carving work on the altars, simple but with an attractive popular flavor.
  • , Praça General Bento Gonçalves, 49, 51 3654-1299. Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:45 pm. Installed in the former residence of Bento Gonçalves, one of the leaders of the Farroupilha Revolution. Located at Rua Luiz Barreto 170, it has a historical and ethnographic collection, with pieces related to the Revolution and indigenous artifacts.
  • , Luiz Barreto 4. One of the oldest in the state still in use, it was built in 1848.
  • Other buildings of historical interest are the City Hall, a large colonial house that was the residence of Sabino Antônio da Cunha Pacheco, a wealthy community leader, and hosted Emperor Dom Pedro II and Princess Isabel; The Municipal Department of Labor and Social Action, a two-story house that belonged to Antônio Ferreira Canabarro, dating from the 19th century; The Craftsman's House, former residence of Jerônimo de Ornellas, founder of Porto Alegre.
  • Monument to the Fight on Fanfa Island, located in Porto da Pedreira, in the 4th District of Triunfo, marks the fight on Ilha do Fanfa, in 1836, one of the bloodiest of the Farroupilha Revolution.
