Only 3 km east of the center St. Joseph one reaches the place St. Augustine, after Tunapuna it is 5 km. The place is 2 km south of St. Joseph Valsayn on both sides of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway. The villages follow from Tunapuna further east Tacarigua (2.5 km) and Trincity (3.5 km from Tunapuna).
They are almost entirely residential areas. Only on the Churchill Roosevelt Highway are there a few smaller industrial areas. For non-residents, the city limits are no longer recognizable today. Tunapuna in the northeast received city rights in 1898, the population in this residential area is mixed, of African and Indian origin. St. Augustine is located in the southeast and is an exclusive residential area. There, on the site of a former sugar cane plantation, is the university. In 1960, Trinidad founded the together with Barbados and Jamaica University of the West Indies (UWI). There are now eight faculties and around 1,500 students in Trinidad. The main office is located in the former manor house.
On the southeast edge of Trincity you will find the Trincity Mall shopping center, behind it the “Millennium Lakes” golf course and in the immediate vicinity of the golf course in the south the intersection to the international airport.
The mountain village is 9 kilometers north of Trincity by road Lopinot. The narrow valley is at a height of a little over 200 m above sea level, the mountains on the right and left reach heights of over 600 meters. There are several caves in the area.

Tourist Attractions
- St. John's Road. St. John's Road leads from the center of Tunapuna through the village of St. John to the monastery of Mount St. Benedict. The monastery is 243 m above sea level, from there you have a fantastic view over the southern half of the island when the weather is clear. It was founded in 1912 by Benedictine monks. Today there are only 12 monks living there. Behind the monastery, the road continues a short distance in hairpin bends to St. Benet's Hall, Tel. 645-1905. There you will find an art gallery and an open-air restaurant with changing opening times.
- Stalactite caves. There are a large number of stalactite caves in the area around Lopinot. The better known and larger ones are Jeville Cave, Lamira Cave and Martin Gomez Cave.
