18-05-2007: Winter at the Tölzer Hütte
The Tölzer Hütte is an accommodation facility of the German Alpine Club, which is located at 1823 m in the north-east Karwendel foothills lies.
getting there
By bus and train
By train from Munich to Lenggries. Then by mountaineering bus or by taxi (see Taxi Much Lenggries) further in the direction of Fall or into the Riss valley (for information on the mountaineering bus see also article Karwendel section arrival).
In the street
Ascents
- From the Leckbachtal car park (903 m) in the Riss valley: - Standard route to the hut. The mountain path leads over 850 m up to the hut
- Shelters when it rains: Halfway along (at the high point at 1337 m; shown on the Karwendel Mountains compass map) there is an open refuge with a bench (good weather protection thanks to three closed walls)
- Walking time: approx. 2 1/2 hours
- From Fall via Grammesbergalm and Moosalm: - The route contains around 250 "lost altitude meters" in the Grasköpfel area.
- Walking time: 5 hours (DAV walking time); a total of approx. 1400 m are to be mastered.
- By fall through the Krottenbachtal - At the end there is a very steep ascent to the Delpsee.
- Walking time: 4 hours (DAV walking time)
- From case to the Lerchenkogelalmen - Scenic route on relatively easy mountain paths.
- Shelters in the rain: open house bank on the Lerchenkogel-Niederleger (at the altitude of 1337 m on the compass map "Karwendelgebirge); open house bank at the Lerchenkogel-Hochleger; open house bank on the Delpalm (small hunting lodge; the bank is not properly covered)
- Walking times: 5 - 6 hours (experience Celsius). 4 1/2 hours (DAV walking time)
summit
- Schafreiter (Schafreuter) 2101 m - the local mountain of the Tölzer Hütte; beautiful panoramic view; Walking time from Tölzer Hütte: approx. 1 hour; A head for heights and surefootedness required
Transitions
- To the Plumsjochhütte or to the Plumser Sattel - a demanding high-altitude trail over the grass ridge that requires surefootedness and a head for heights. Walking times: 7 - 9 hours (experience Celsius). 6 hours (DAV walking time)

- Hike from the Tölzer to the Delpsee - The small mountain lake is located east of the Tölzer Hütte in a high valley (walking time from the hut: 15 - 30 minutes downhill; 30-40 minutes are to be planned for the way back as it is uphill).
