Umm Salal Mohammed is a city of Qatar.
To know
Apart from the Barzan towers and some archaeological sites, this town not far from Doha is visited for the presence of the racetrack and the stadium.
Geographical notes
Umm Salal Muhammad is a town in the municipality of Umm Salal, about 15 km north of Doha a short drive from the northern suburbs of Doha on the North Road to Al-Ruweis.

By car
To get to Umm Salal Mohammed by car, take the Doha Expressway, called D-Ring Road in the city, heading north for about 15 minutes until a sign indicates the detour to Umm Salal Mohammed. Once you reach the town, turn right at the main intersection to reach the fort, which you have probably already recognized. The tower is located west of the fort and you should be able to see it by climbing to the top of the mosque or one of the two towers inside the fort. The distance from the center of Doha is approximately 20 km, equivalent to 25 minutes on the road.
By bus
The Route 102 bus (see timetables) towards Al Thakhira through the city, leaving at the Al Ghanim bus station in Doha. The bus has a frequency of about half an hour and reaches the city in 50 minutes. There are different hours from Saturday to Thursday and Friday. Buses may be affected by changes and disruptions to service, therefore it is advisable to call Mowasalat for confirmation on 974 4458 8888.

What see
- 1 Barzan Towers (برج برزان).
free. A couple of watchtowers built in the late 19th century. They were completely rebuilt in 2003, complete with air conditioners and are no longer authentic, but it is worth climbing the towers which offer good views of the surrounding village. Photographing the towers can be useful in the early morning or late afternoon, although if you want to take a photo of the mosque's facade, which faces east, it is definitely best to go in the morning. At the entrance the caretaker will ask you where you come from and to sign the guest book. 
- 2 Umm Salal Fortress, west of the Bazan towers. This tower was built as a residence for Sheikh Jasim Bin Mohammed al Thani in the late 19th century. The building is still inhabited and is not open to the public, but it can be seen from the outside.
- 3 Prehistoric mounds, Umm Salal Ali (north of Umm Salal Mohammad, just off Umm Shamal Rd). These mounds on the northern edge of the village are believed to date back to Dilmun culture 3000 BC The mounds of the same culture present in Bahrain were inscribed on the UNESCO list in 2019. In January 2020 they were inaccessible due to a construction site for a building that presumably will incorporate their relevance.
- 4 Archaeological site of Al Wsel, off Al Khor Coastal Rd (accessible only with 4WD and GPS).
Free use. This site was inhabited from the 7th to the 1st century BC. and you can find the remains of numerous houses, towers and tombs scattered throughout the area. The most interesting structures are the circular arrangements of stone slabs on the ground, which are believed to mark burial sites.
