Urgengh is home to an important airport that connects to other cities in Uzbekistan.
- 1 [link not working]Urgench International Airport. The nearest airport is that of the capital of Corasmia about 34 km from Khiva. There Uzbekistan Airways operates flights from Tashkent, Bukhara, Moscow-Domodedovo, St.Pietroburgo, Volgograd. With the national airline it is possible to reach Khiva from Paris-Charles de Gaulle with a stopover in Tashkent. By car
A quicker alternative is to use a shared taxi from Bukhara which reaches the city in 5 and a half hours and vice versa.
On the train
Urgengh can be reached by train.
- 2 Urgengh Station. Night trains depart from Tashkent to the city and continue north. However, the line is that of the Soviet era and the sleeper trains are slow and noisy with 4-passenger cabins. The station is a modern building where you can find bars or small shops for buying food. However, it is advisable to buy food nearby, given the limited choice.
