Uriage-les-Bains (also known by the simple name of Uriage) is a spa town in the municipalities of Saint-Martin-d'Uriage and of Vaulnaveys-le-Haut in the department ofIsere in France

Understand

“Uriage” is a district administratively divided between the municipalities of Saint-Martin-d'Uriage and Vaulnaveys-le-Haut, which extends around a large “English” park.

The thermal baths, most of the park and the historic buildings are located on the Saint-Martin-d'Uriage side, while Vaulnaveys-le-Haut retains some buildings and a part of the wooded park of the XIXe century.

The places have been touristic since Roman antiquity, Uriage being one of the most famous ancient Roman thermal sites in Gaul.

At XIXe century, under the leadership of Count Louis de Saint-Ferriol (owner of the Château d'Uriage) modern thermal baths are developing. All the thermal baths, the park as well as the villas and other surrounding buildings have retained their “Belle Epoque” appearance since then.
