Practical advice

With the large train station, Greifensee and Uster Castle, Uster has three distinctive points that you can use for orientation. Thanks to the well-developed public transport system and the many signs at and around the train station, but also in public parking lots (e.g. on Winterthurerstraße), you should find your way around quickly. As everywhere in Switzerland, you can easily ask passers-by for directions. A tip is not usual with such free assistance. In restaurants, however, between 5-10% is the golden rule, as always. Of course, this does not apply to take-away shops. If you get hungry quickly, there is a McDonalds at the train station.

A Swiss Post branch is right next to the Illuster shopping center in the city center. Mailboxes are distributed throughout the city and are usually easily accessible on foot.

ATMs / Postomats are mainly located in and around the train station. There are also some in the city's shopping malls.

All mobile phone providers in Switzerland offer very good network coverage in the city. There are telephone booths at the train station and at the post office. However, these are gradually being dismantled across the country. There are various mobile phone shops, the Swisscom shop in the train station, which is open 365 days a year, is worth mentioning. For tourists, Swisscom (but other providers also offer this) a prepaid card (ID required). As is generally the case in Switzerland, prices for this are comparatively high.
