To know
Spoken languages
The Faroese language is descended from Old Norse, but apparently only Icelandic offers a mutual understanding with it. Visitors are advised never to assume that a place sounds as if it were written and Vágar is pronounced something like "Vau-er" (á is generally pronounced like this, as opposed to a).

How to get around
By car
To reach Bøur, follow the road past the airport, cross Sørvágur and continue west. Gásadalur is connected to Bøur by a road tunnel and Sørvágur is within walking distance from the airport (2 km). If your luggage is not too heavy, you can walk and see the city and then take the bus to Tórshavn.
What see
The views from Tindholmur's Bøur and the nearby sea stacks are as good as anything else in the Faroe Islands. In Gásadalur you can see puffins get the closest view to the mainland of Mykines and the small but extremely curvy island of Tindholmur and the nearby sea stacks.
- 1 Múlafossur waterfall, Gásadalur. One of the attractions of the region.
