The Valea Hartibaciului (German Harbachtal) together with the adjacent plateaus and valleys is the core of the so-called Harbach Plateau. The valley is named after the river Hârtibaciului, Harbach. It is roughly limited by Sibiu (German Sibiu, approx. Nagyszeben), Medias (Ger. Medias, approx. Medgyes), Sighisoara] (Ger. Schäßburg, approx. Segesvár) and Brasov] (Ger. Kronstadt, approx. Brassó). Many of the Transylvanian-Saxon fortified churches are located here.
