Verbier it is a fraction of the city Bagnes of the Canton of Valais in Switzerland.

To know

It is located in the center of one of the most important ski areas in the country and of the entire Alpine chain, with slopes for all levels and many other activities, attractions and infrastructures to pass the time after skiing.

In summer Verbier, like many other mountain villages, is an excellent base for hiking along the many trails in the area.

By plane

The nearest airport is that of Geneva Cointrin, 160km from Verbier. The airport of Sion, 50km from Verbier has only private planes and sporadic connections of the Swiss Air col UK. To reach Verbier from the airport you can use bus, train or car.

Transfers by minibus from Geneva airport with Alpybus [1] or AlpinExpress [2].

By car

Verbier is located just off the A9 motorway and national road 21 (European Road: E27), about an hour and a half from Geneva. If you are traveling in the winter make sure you have a car capable of climbing slopes and with snow chains or tires.

On the train

There are no direct trains to Verbier. Passengers coming from Geneva will have to take a train to Martigny and then change trains to take the "St Bernard Express" at Le Châble, the base station of Verbier. From there, passengers can take the cable car or the postal bus to reach the village.


How to get around

Verbier is small enough that you can easily get around on foot, even if you are wearing ski boots. There is a free bus that runs around the village until the evening. There is a cable car service between Verbier and Le Chable running from 08:30 to 18:30, and a bus that runs later, so it's best to take note of the bus timetables if you are staying in Le Chable.

Verbier's main activity during the winter is skiing. The ski area is one of the largest in Switzerland, extending to Thyon and up to the Mt Fort glacier. The area is very famous for the off the track which makes Verbier one of the favorite destinations for more experienced skiers. The best area for beginners is Savolyres. There are fewer infrastructures for snowboarding, but even fans of this discipline can still have fun and experience the thrill of off-piste.
