Vianden (lux .: Veianen, Veinen) is a municipality and city in Luxembourg and is the administrative seat of the canton Vianden.
background
Vianden is in the Little Switzerland of Luxembourg, right on the border with Germany. Vianden is worth a day trip. The famous Vianden Castle is a huge facility 85 m long and 30 m wide. The Counts of Vianden resided here. Today the title can be found in the Dutch royal family.
Vianden lies on both sides of the river Our. The neighboring municipalities of Luxembourg also have a share in the river Our: Tandel and Putscheid, in Germany border the communities Bauler, Body, Roth an der Our to the municipality; only the latter is directly on the Our.
The next major cities are Diekirch and Bitburg. The closest major city is Luxembourg city.

By plane
The closest airport is the international one Luxembourg Airport
(IATA: LUX). It is served by 16 scheduled and also German charter companies. The travel time by bus and train is about Ettelbruck is 1 1/2 hours.
By train
- The closest train stations are Ettelbruck and Diekirch; from there there are bus connections. There are direct connections to Ettelbrück Luxembourg city and from Liege.
- The closest stop on the German route network is Storage. There is a bus connection to Body out Bitburg (City center or train station). Vianden is also served by call line taxis from Sinspelt.
In the street
You can get to Vianden quickly from Luxembourg (city) by car. First turn onto the E421, then onto the A7. Leave the motorway in the direction of Diekirch on the E421. Finally on Landstrasse 17. In approx. 47 km and approx. 50 minutes you have already reached Vianden. If you come from the north (Sankt Vith or Prüm), you drive right to the state border for quite a while Germany along. Out Bitburg the B50 leads to Vianden.
