North Luxembourg - Nordluxemburg

North Luxembourg will also be Ösling or Éislek called. This article deals with the Luxembourg cantons of Clervaux, Diekirch, Redingen, Vianden and Wiltz. They used to form the Diekirch district.

Regions

  • Most of northern Luxembourg is the tourist region Ardennes assigned to a transition region of the Eifel to the Ardennes
  • the southern part belongs to the tourist region Gutland, a sub-region of the Lorraine layer level country

The Luxembourg Ardennes are not only a breathtaking landscape with countless viewpoints, but also full of well-preserved and restored castles that give the region a medieval flair. The region can be easily explored on one of the numerous hiking or cycling trails.

The railway network in the region consists of a main line and several branches of it. These junctions connect most of the notable destinations. The route, CFL line 10, runs from Luxembourg City to Liège. The line connects Mersch and Colmar-Berg in central Luxembourg and Ettelbruck and Clervaux in the Ardennes. Wiltz can be reached by train via the branch in Kautenbach, Diekirch via the branch in Ettelbruck and Troisvierges via the branch in Maulusmuhle. Buses, most of which stop at the major train stations listed above, connect all other destinations.
