Volterra is located on a mountain about 550m high, which is accessed by serpentines. The driveway to the place is very narrow in places.

Park: There are a number of chargeable parking spaces around the old town belt, which are well signposted. There is a free gravel parking lot "La Docciola" (on Via dei Filosofi) with a drinking water fountain for mobile homes and cars. From here two steep stairs lead past the old wash house directly into the center.

At the foot of the city wall, directly at the excavation sites of the amphitheater, there are some larger parking spaces. The way there is clearly visible when entering the city through signs.

Tourist Attractions

A special attraction in Volterra are the "La Balze", large rockfalls on the eastern edge of the city, from which there is also a wonderful view of the area around Volterra.
