How come?

Bokor is located 8 km from Kampot and 95 km from Sihanoukville on National Highway 3. The main entrance and headquarters of the national park is about 1 km from the main road. From there it is a difficult 32 km to reach the top.

As of October 2008, the road to Bokor is officially closed due to ongoing reconstruction (or construction). Hence independent access seems impossible. However, it is still possible to arrange a trip through the local travel agent. Apparently there was some bribery by local officials involved. This is also the reason for a sharp increase in the price of such trips costing 40 USD per person (for a one day trip in a 4WD). As of March 2011 the new road is 90% complete.

Trekking tours for 18 USD - 20 USD can be booked in the city, including entrance fee and lunch.
