Wallonia - French-speaking region in the south Belgium, one of the country's three federal regions, commonly known as Wallonia. Its capital is Namur.
The name of Wallonia, like the name of Wales, comes from the Old Germanic word Walh (foreign). Both regions have "foreign" (non-German) languages and cultures.
