Vietzig(Polish: Wicko) is a small coastal town in Poland in the voivodeship West Pomerania on the island Wollin at the Szczecin Lagoon, specifically its bay Small Vietziger See, not far from the beginning of the Swine. The bay and the adjoining one Great Vietziger See are named after the place.
background
In the place are - as in the neighboring Wapnica - Limestone rocks from which lime has been extracted for centuries. In contrast to Wapienica, the quarries here are not flooded and can be visited. The place is quite small and manageable. It is therefore particularly suitable for tourists who, away from the hustle and bustle, are looking for peace and relaxation by the water and in nature.

- At Szczecin available in Gollnow an international airport (IATA code: SZZ).
- Arrival by plane is via the airfield Heringsdorf possible.
- Longer travel times, around 4 hours, are from the airports Poses and Berlin required.
By train
You can travel by train from Germany via Swinoujscie or over Szczecin respectively. However, the place itself does not have a train station, so in the end the host or a taxi will have to pick up the guest from Międzyzdroje, for example. The Polish rail network is operated by the state railway PKP. Rail travel in Poland is very cheap.
By bus
Numerous bus companies offer bus trips to Szczecin from Germany and Austria, e.g. Sindbad, Eurolines, Touring, Omnia. Inexpensive intercity buses run from Szczecin to Międzywodzie. In addition to the state bus line PKS, there are numerous offers from private providers. From Swinoujscie (on the east side of the Swine) buses also run at short intervals to Miedzyzdroje and on to Wapnica.
In the street
The road network around Wicko is well equipped, the place is not far from Expressway S3. The journey from Germany is via Berlin, Szczecin or the island Usedom possible.
By boat
The port of Wicko is not in the village itself, but in the neighboring one Zalesie. If you come with your own or chartered (sailing) boat, you can come here or in Wapienica invest.
mobility
The place can be explored quite easily on foot.

kitchen
Due to the proximity to the open sea, but also to inland waters, marine and freshwater fish are the main components of the regional cuisine.
nightlife
The nightlife options in town are modest. Night owls will go to Szczecin or one of the neighboring larger cities.
accommodation
Several smaller pensions and holiday rooms are available.
Learn

Work
For German-speaking tourists who are looking for a holiday job in the region, there are opportunities in tourism and gastronomy. However, the payment should not correspond to German conditions.
security
The lagoon coast usually falls flat under water and there are hardly any tides or unpredictable currents. Bathing is therefore usually safe for families with children and swimming accidents are rare. When swimming accidents do occur, excessive alcohol or drug consumption is usually involved. However, if you follow the general bathing rules and do not go into the water when the waves are high, you have little to fear.
health
If you are legally insured in Germany or Austria, you can get medical treatment in Poland without any problems and the costs will then be reimbursed / covered by your own health insurance. Basically, you need the European health card EHIC for this. If you travel to Poland for (dental) treatment, the assumption of costs should be clarified with the German / Austrian health insurance company in advance.
The supply of pharmacies is quite good and many medicines are cheaper in Poland than in Germany. Prescription drugs can only be obtained upon presentation of a doctor's prescription. It is best to clarify in advance whether the desired medicines require a prescription in Poland and to get a prescription from a Polish doctor in advance.
Doctors and pharmacists in Poland usually speak English very well, and some also speak German. You can find out which doctors or pharmacists speak German at the local chamber of doctors or pharmacists.
The closest medical practices and pharmacies are located in Międzyzdroje .
climate
In the region there is a transitional climate between maritime and continental climates. The amount of precipitation is lower and the temperature fluctuations higher (warmer summers, colder winters) than on comparable coasts in Western Europe.
