History

The village was mentioned in 1153. He lived here August Cieszkowski (1814-1894), national and social activist, co-founder and long-term president of the Society of Friends of Sciences in Poznań. Wierzenica was visited by a poet who was friends with A. Cieszkowski several times Zygmunt Krasiński.

The marble bust of Cieszkowski is the work of Antoni Madeyski, known for his royal sarcophagi at Wawel.
