Wildhaus is the highest municipality in the canton St. Gallen in the Eastern Switzerland.

It is located between the Säntis and Churfirsten massifs at a pass crossing at an altitude of 1095 m on the road from Gams in the Rhine Valley to Unterwasser and Wattwil in Toggenburg. The highest mountain in Wildhaus is the Säntis (2502 m). Wildhaus is both a summer and winter sports resort. Two chairlifts and a ski lift lead from the village to Gamsalp and Gamserrugg. The ski slopes on the Churfirstenhang, the Wildhaus together with Underwater and Alt St. Johann operates, reach a height of 2262 m (Chäserrugg in Unterwasser) and have a total length of 60 km.

Wildhaus does not have a train station but is accessed via the 790 postbus. This runs from the Nesslau-Neu St. Johann train station via Wildhaus to the train station Buchs SG, which is on the long-distance route Zurich-Vienna.
