Wiler is a Swiss Community in Lötschental in the canton Valais.
background
The municipality of Wiler extends over an area of 14.68 km². Its lowest point is at 1,376 meters above sea level and the highest point is at 3,293 meters above sea level. On January 7, 2014 Wiler had a population of 594 people.
Wiler was almost completely destroyed by fire on the "Red Blessing Sunday" (June 17, 1900). Property damage of CHF 450,000 resulted and 268 people were left homeless. In 1909 the village was completely rebuilt.
Politically, the community belongs to the Westlich Raron district.

By plane
Arrival via Basel, Zurich, Geneva or Sion airports.
By train
All RE between (Bern) -Thun-Spiez and Brig stop in Goppenstein. There is a connection to the Postbus to the Lötschental.
By bus
In the street
Via Bern-Spiez to Kandersteg, from there car transport through the Lötschberg tunnel to Goppenstein. From there it is only a short distance on the connecting road through the Lötschental to Blatten. A main road leads from Gammpel-Steg to Goppenstein.
From the south, take the Rhone Valley motorway from Lausanne or the cantonal road from Brig to Gampel / Steg.
From Steg and Goppenstein the well-developed road leads directly into the Lötschental. The road is also easy to drive in winter, winter equipment is required for the months from November to April.
mobility
Outside the village, west in the direction of Kippel, is the valley station of the cable car to the Laucheralp. A chair lift leads from the Laucheralp to the Gandegg.

In summer the Lötschental is one of the most beautiful hiking areas in Valais. In winter, the ski area offers something for everyone, from sledging to freeriding.
