Cell is a community in the Upper Palatinate in the district of Cham, Zell is part of the administrative community forest

Zell was first mentioned as a parish in 1376, the place goes back to a monastery foundation. As part of the municipal reform in 1972, today's municipality of Zell was created from the districts of Zell, Beucherling and Schillertswiesen.
