Roding is a city on the Regen River in the Upper Palatinate.
background
The town of Roding am Regen is the second largest town in the district Cham. The place, first mentioned in 844, received market rights in 1364 and became the seat of the court in 1803. Roding was a district town between 1939 and 1972, then it was integrated into the Cham district.
The place achieved sad fame as the scene of a death march from the Flossenbürg concentration camp, during which 567 concentration camp prisoners perished in the last days of the war, a memorial in the Wetterfeld district commemorates the event.
The town is located on the Regen, at the end of the Regentalauen area, in the north-west are the extensive wooded areas of the Bavarian Forest.

Roding is on the line OBP3 the Upper Palatinate Railway of Schwandorf (here connection to the line OBP1regensburg - Pastures) and further after Cham.
The 1 railway station is located in the north of the city, it is unfortunately 2.5 km away from the rain bridge, which means a 30-minute walk to the city center.
In the street
Roding is on the main road 85 of On the mountain – Schwandorf (here connection to the A93) - Cham and further after Passau, the federal highway 16 branches off a little west of Roding to the southwest and leads to on a more direct route regensburg.

- the 1 Marketplace is located on the extension of the main road leading over the rain bridge, here the trade routes crossed in the Middle Ages. The old one is also here 2 town hall with a tail gable and attached turret.
- the 3 St. Josephi Chapel from the 8th / 9th Century is one of the oldest sacred buildings in Bavaria St. Anna Chapel cultivated. Here is the dance of death fresco from the 17th century. to see, next to it a fresco depicting the Last Judgment from the 16th century.
- 4 Parish Church of St. Pankrazius, octagonal, built under the architect F. Haindl in 1959 in place of a previous building, the baroque church tower was preserved as a free-standing campanile. On the left side of the alter room there is a stone Madonna from the years 1320/30, on the right side of the altar a baptismal font from the 13th century.
- 5 Sebastianikapelle, an open gable roof building from the 18th century.
- Outside the city on the Regen stands the 6 Heilbrünnl pilgrimage church , on the site of a chapel from the 17th century. The present church was built in rococo style in 1730. The water from the Heilbrünnl spring, which is said to have beneficial effects on eye problems, is collected in a marble basin in the church.
