Understand
The archipelago is formed by a partially emerged coral reef in 450 islands covering 100 km2 of area. These islands take on the appearance of limestone peaks or hilly islands covered with a tropical forest and dotted with numerous lakes. One of the most famous and visited is the Medusa Lake.
The South Lagoon of the Chelbacheb Islands, isolated from the ocean by a barrier reef with 385 species of coral, has been a World Heritage Site since 2012

- 1 Jellyfish Lake – A brackish water lake whose fauna is notably represented by jellyfish which have been able to proliferate in the absence of predators. They appeared there via a tunnel, now obstructed, which connected it to the ocean.
- 2 Big Drop-off – A hotspot for scuba diving
- 3 Island of Ngercheu – The island has a white sand beach, bordered by coconut palms
- 4 Blue corner – Another famous place to dive despite the strong currents and sharks
