'Ain Safi (Arabic:عين صافي‎, ʿAin Ṣafī) is the residence of around 200 Schiheibāt nomads (شهيباط‎, Shihaibāṭ) in the southeast of the city Siwa, about 5 kilometers southeast of ez-timeun.[1]

25 families belonging to the Schiheibāt tribe from the area of ​​Marsa Matruh were settled here in the 1980s. Originally they lived in tents, but today in permanent accommodation. One of their branches of business is carpet manufacture.

The villagers get their water from a fresh water source, the ʿAin Ṣāfī.

getting there

For the journey one can use the asphalt road from Siwa over the Zeitūn lake to ʿAin Ṣāfī. You have to explore the village on foot.
