The Republic of Khakassia is its federal subject Russia, subject to Siberian Apartment. The capital of the Republic of Hakasia is Abacan (165,214 inhabitants). Other administrative centers are the city Chernogorsk and the also big city Sayanogorsk. According to the 2002 Census, the dominant ethnic group in the Republic of Khakassia is Russians (80.3% of the population), while those who declared themselves Hakkas (indigenous Turks) now represented only 12% of the population. The economy of the Republic of Khakassia is mainly due to the export of aluminum.
