The five countries of the East African Community: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, and Rwanda established a unified economic market in 2010 and will try their best to merge into a unified federal state in 2015. The federation will have a common constitution, president, parliament and currency.
history
Although the traces of human activities in Uganda can be traced back to 1000 BC, little is known about the records of people from other continents before they arrived in this land. The Ugandans were hunter-gatherers until 1700-2300. Afterwards, it may have come from the Bantu-speaking tribes of Central Africa who came to settle in the southern part of the country, brought iron casting technology and new social and political systems, and established the Kitara country. The Kitara country covers most of the Great Lakes region, from Lake Victoria, Lake Tanganyika, Lake Albert, to Lake Kioga.
When the Arabs and Europeans came in the 19th century, there were several countries here, and these countries were founded approximately in the 16th century. The largest and most important kingdom is Uganda.
In 1888, the British placed this place under the jurisdiction of the British East Africa Company; in June 1894, the British declared Uganda as a "protection nation"; in 1896, the British extended the scope of the "protection nation" to the entire territory of Ukraine, and in 1907 Established a governor; gained independence in 1962.
On January 15, 1971, Army Chief of Staff Idi Amin launched a military coup and seized power. Under his dictatorship, approximately 300,000 Ugandans were killed. In 1979, Amin launched the Utan War to invade neighboring Tanzania, and Tanzania's subsequent counterattack ended his regime. After Milton Oberto came to power, the situation did not change much. He was also ousted in 1985; the current President Yoweri Museveni came to power in 1986.
On February 23, 2006, Ugandan presidential and parliamentary elections were held. The Uganda Election Commission announced that Museveni won and was re-elected as president again.
In the 2011 presidential election, Museveni won again and continued to serve as president. His re-election also drew criticism from the opposition party and allegations of election fraud. There were also some demonstrations and riots in the city of Kampala, the capital.
