history

The Croats settled in the area at the beginning of the seventh century and formed two main principalities: Croatia and Pannonia. The establishment of the TrimimiRVi dynasty in 850 AD strengthened Dalmatian rule in the Duchy of Croatia in Dalmatia. Later, during the reign of King Tomislav, it merged with the Duchy of Panania in 925 to form a kingdom. This independent Kingdom of Croatia lasted until 1102, when Croatia formed an alliance with Hungary after a series of dynastic struggles, and the Hungarian king ruled the two countries. In 1526, after the Battle of the Moha, Hungary was hit hard by the Ottoman Turkey. Croatia severed its relations with Hungary, and its parliament voted to establish a new alliance with the Habsburg monarchy. So Croatia became an autonomous kingdom ruled by the Habsburg dynasty (belonging to the Austro-Hungarian Empire) and did not disintegrate until its defeat in the First World War.
