Brief history
On April 10, 1998, the British and Irish governments and the parties to the Northern Ireland conflict signed a peace agreement. The British handed over the management of local affairs to Northern Ireland.IrelandAbandoning the sovereignty requirements for the territory of Northern Ireland, after the election of the Northern Ireland Local Council, the establishment of the Northern Ireland Autonomous Government with multi-party power sharing in Northern Ireland, exercises legislative and administrative powers in addition to national defense, foreign affairs and taxation. Due to disputes between various factions in Northern Ireland over disarming and other issues, the British government was forced to suspend the operation of the Northern Irish government four times. After many twists and turns, on July 28, 2005, the Irish Republican Army issued a statement announcing that it would abandon armed struggle and no longer engage in any non-peaceful activities. Subsequently, the British government demolished some military installations in Northern Ireland and withdrew in phases. On March 9, 2007, Northern Ireland held local assembly elections, and the Democratic Unity Party and Sinn Fein Party received more than half of the total votes. On May 8, 2007, all parties in Northern Ireland reached a compromise on the distribution of power after arduous negotiations, and the local coalition government of Northern Ireland announced its resumption. In February 2010, the police and judicial powers of Northern Ireland were transferred from the British Parliament to the Northern Ireland Local Council.
