Łuków Heath - Łuków-Heide

Jata Nature Reserve

The Łuków Heath (Polish: Lasy Łukowskie) is a large natural forest area in the voivodeship Lublin. It is one of the largest forest areas in the country as well as next to that Janów Heath and the Solsk Heath, the largest in the Lublin Voivodeship. The heather lies in the north-west of the voivodeship on the border with Mazovia and is from the source rivers of the Krzna, the Northern and the Southern Knrza, as well as some of its tributaries flowing through it. There are numerous streams, swamps and bogs. Much of the heather is protected as a landscape protection park. In the Middle Ages it was a royal forest, because only the Polish king had the right to hunt.
