THE Lisbon area (Portuguese: Lisbon Region) is the area that includes capital city of Portugal and extends on both banks of the Tagus River.

- Lisbon (Lisbon) - The city of "Fanto", the traditional music of sailors that expresses the Portuguese melancholy, the "saudade".
- Sintra (Sintra) - The city is known for its many attractions included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
- Setubal (Setúbal) - Fishing port and industrial center.
- Cecibra (Sesimbra) - Seaside resort at the foot of the da Arabida Mountains (Serra da Arrábida).
- Mafra (Mafra) - Known for its palace (Mafra National Palace), a great example of Baroque architecture that mimics the design and rhythms of the most famous Monastery of San Lorenzo of El Escorial near Madrid.
