Adıyaman is a city of approximately 180,000 inhabitants in Southeast Anatolia in the Turkey.

Adıyaman is quite wealthy. This can be seen on the green central Ataturk Bulvarı. But the rapid prosperity from the oil, the Ataturk Dam and the tourist proximity of the Nemrut Dağı could not be implemented in a handsome cityscape. The large number of relatively new, simply designed multi-storey residential buildings rather gives the impression of urban sprawl.

The bus station is located in the center on Ataturk Bulvarı. From here all regional cities (like Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa or also Kâtha), sights (such as Nemrut Dağı) or supraregional cities (such as Istanbul, Ankara or Izmir)
In the street
The central axis is the D360.
Of Kahramanmaraş you drive the 850 in the direction Malatya then turn right at Gölbaşı towards Adıyaman on the 360. Of Malatya you drive the same way, only in the opposite direction
Of Gaziantep one drives
Of Şanlıurfa one drives
Of Diyarbakır you drive the 360 in a westerly direction. At the bank of the Ataturk reservoir you have to change to a ferry. This runs daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

- 1 Adiyaman Archaeological Museum, Yenipınar Mh., 02100 Adıyaman, Turkey. Tel.: 90 416 216 2929. Most important exhibits in the local museum directly at Ataturk sites such as the Kommagenen capital Samsat.Open: Mondays are closed.
- 2 Pirin Necropolis (Perre). This late Roman archaeological site, 6 km to the north, can be visited for a fee. No less than 208 rock graves can be admired here.
- 3 Ataturk reservoir. This as part of the so-called GAP project (Güneydoğu Anadolu Projesi, in German South East Anatolia Project) Realized Mammut Reservoir 800 km² area offers many possibilities from bathing to beautiful excursion restaurants on the lake to visiting the dam wall. The latter can be found after about 50 km if you go from Adıyaman to Şanlıurfa moves.
