Ain - Ain

Ain – French department located in the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alps. It was created during the French Revolution on March 4, 1790. Initially, it was called the Department of Bresse, referring to the historical region of Bresse, but it was changed in 1791 as part of the struggle with the toponymic names used during the Ancien régime. The department is marked with the number 01.
