Ale[1] is a municipality in Västergötland. The municipality borders on Gothenburg in the south, towards Kungälv and Lilla Edet in the west, towards Trollhättan in the north and towards Alingsås and Lerum in the East.

Ale vikingagård is a reconstructed farm building from the Viking Age located by the Göta River.
The glassworks museum Surte glassworks characterized the small community Surte from its inception in 1862 until its closure in 1978. In the old factory premises there is now a museum where they show what was produced in the town and what role the mill played.
The man who designed the Coca-Cola bottle, Alexander Samuelson, came from Surte glassworks.
