Kungälv is a city near Gothenburg in the old province Bohuslan in southern Sweden.

Kungälv, 25 km north of Gothenburg, is much smaller, but with its Bohus fortress east of Göta älv, it is much older than the city Gothenburg. Naming for the former province of Boshuslän, the city is now part of the administrative district of Västra Götalands län.
