Algarrobo is a tourist resort that is between Vélez-Málaga and Nerja on the Costa del Sol. The place is divided into two districts. The original place dates back to Moorish times and is a few kilometers from the coast. It can be described as a very typical "white village", which you can recognize not only by the houses painted white, but also by the decorations and jewelry from the Moorish era. The locality also includes a stretch of coast that is known today as the Algarrobo-Costa. This is where the numerous hotels and holiday complexes of the place are located. The place name Algarrobo means something like carob tree.

The nearest airport is that Malaga airport, which is connected to Algarrobo by a bus connection.

By train
