Slovenian Julian Alps is a region of the Slovenia.
To know
The Julian Alps are part of the Alps and extend beyond the Slovenian border into the northeast ofItaly. They owe their name to Julius Caesar. They offer a wonderful alpine experience that will make you feel full Upper Bavaria or in Tyrol during a walk on a sunny day.
Spoken languages
The national language is clearly it Slovenian. Most are able to speak Serbian-Croatian as a consequence of the Yugoslav experience (they are also very similar languages) and among young people theEnglish or the German. German had a historical minority role in the region before World War II with many places having bilingual names. Today it is spoken by Austrian and German tourists.

Urban centers
- Bled - Municipality at the foot of the Julian Alps, with the incredibly romantic mountain lake of the same name complete with castle and island.
- Caporetto (Kobarid in Slovenian, Cjaurêt in Friulian, Karfreit in German) - City rich in history, sport and culinary tradition.
- Circhina (in Slovenian: Cerkno, German: Kirchheim)
- Dovje-Mojstrana - The best starting point for hiking and climbing in the Julian Alps.
- Hydria (Idrija) - The oldest mining town in Slovenia, with more than 500 years of history.
- Jesenice
- Kranjska Gora - Village and ski area.
- Plezzo (in SlovenianBovec, in GermanFlitsch)
- Radovljica - Historic old town with a beekeeping museum.
- Tolmin (in Slovenian Tolmin, in German Tolmein) - The largest city in the Soča Valley (Soča).
